The Long and Winding Road topic is the part of silverelk.net that provides a space for some family pictures, stuff about us, that sort of thing. It's sort of a public version of the "generic letter to family" that is often sent at Christmas.

Many people think that such sites are just so-much ego stroking, and I am among that crowd. However, I've also come to look at it as a mark of the pride and joy that I have in my family.

Like looking at a family photo album, these pages are unlikely to hold much interest for anyone beyond our own family or friends — people who know us well. Whether you are among that group or not, welcome.

The Topic Title

The title of this topic (The Long and Winding Road) is not a direct tribute to The Beatles. In what is perhaps an over-used metaphor, it is about the road of life — a meandering path that can take us where we want to go, or take us to unexpected places. It is a road that we all follow, and The Long and Winding Road is dedicated to the life paths of our family.

What Does the Future Hold?

So, where does our road lead? I'd be a fool to try and predict it. Everything changes, everything is in flux. We are happy in our marriage and spending time with each other, and our kids are, well, children. Life is currently pretty good. Let's see what tomorrow holds in store.
